Do you realize the earth belongs to you? God indeed gave you the planet on which you live. God gave us some powerful scriptures to confirm this. Psalm 115: 14 reads, “The heavens belong to our God; they are his alone, but he has given us the earth and put us in charge.” Take time to think about this. It will change the way you look at life. We are here for more than just existing constantly going through the same old routine grinding out an existence. God gave you the earth and all its vast resources. He told us to live, subdue, tend, multiply, fill the earth, enjoy it, and create! I will come daily to visit you. I will give you help. I will protect you for what I have made is good.
The garden of Eden was perfect for Adam and Eve. God came every day to visit with them. Go back through the first few chapters of Genesis and look at what God said.
Yes, disobedience created great damage to mankind and the earth. This act of disobedience gave Satan the ability to steal the authority God had given to man. This would only be for a season.
Because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross, we now have His given authority back and it is a better version than Adam was given.
Psalms 8: 3-9 reads, “Look at the splendor of your skies,
your creative genius glowing in the heavens.
When I gaze at your moon and your stars,
mounted like jewels in their settings,
I know you are the fascinating artist who fashioned it all!
But I have to ask this question:
4 Why would you bother with puny, mortal man
or care about human beings?
5 Yet what honor you have given to men,
created only a little lower than Elohim,
crowned with glory and magnificence.
6 You have delegated to them
rulership over all you have made,
with everything under their authority,
placing earth itself under the feet of your image-bearers.
7–8 All the created order and every living thing
of the earth, sky, and sea—
the wildest beasts and all that move in the paths of the sea—
everything is in submission to Adam’s sons.
9 Yahweh, our Sovereign God,
your glory streams from the heavens above,
filling the earth with the majesty of your name!
People everywhere see your splendor!”
How amazing! These words are from the old covenant and have not changed. The earth is yours and you have been given authority in and through Jesus to live to the fullest. You are an image-bearer of God.
My next piece will be about the promises of God. Until then, ponder these verses about the earth and what God has given you.
-Take notes.
-Jot down your thoughts and questions.
-Have a conversation with the Lord about these things.
The life God has for you is so good! There is so much more! Our lives are to give God the creator all glory and honor as he moves in and through us.
