For several years now, I have found that I use the word ‘period’ when I am passionate about a topic or stand. It comes with such a powerful and definitive overtone. I decided to look up the definition of the word period. It reads: “used interjectionally to emphasize the finality of the preceding statement.”
I have been leading a class called Fear Knot! This series shows you how to conquer fear. It has been such a timely season for this class. Fear has overwhelmingly taken a front seat in people’s lives. It’s shocking how many people today are willing to be led down a road I feel most will live to regret later.
In this class, I have found myself using ‘period’ at the end of many biblical truths. For example, 2 Timothy 1:7 states, “For I (GOD) have not given you a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.” This verse is powerful. This verse alone is enough to defeat any fear, anxiety, fret, creepy feeling, or any other word associated with fear when used aloud.
If you look deeply at this verse, fear is a spirit. It comes to you in many ways. We have all lived with fears, anxieties, and more and are very comfortable with them. However, this is not who you are if you are a child of God. You have been given a spirit too! You have been given The Holy Spirit, he is God, the third part of our one God. He is with you and He is Power, Love, and He is Your Sound Mind if you choose to keep your gaze upon Him. It is at points like these when I find myself using the word ‘period’ at the end of quoting or sharing this truth.
God’s words are final. He will not change even one. I find that when I make the declaration, PERIOD! These truths are driven even deeper into my heart and mind. I believe them wholeheartedly! They become the words that I live by.
As believers who overcome, we must decide whom we are going to follow and believe. Many say we are in the last days; are we? Only the Father knows the day and hour. I was just sharing this following verse from 2 Peter 3:9 last night.
‘This means that, contrary to man’s perspective, the Lord is not late with his promise to return, as some measure lateness. But rather, his ‘delay’ simply reveals his loving patience toward you, because he does not want any to perish but all to come to repentance.”
What if, God is waiting on us to do our part? To lead those around us to the cross of Jesus Christ and salvation! How are we doing? Do we really believe the Word? Are we so confident in His Word that we share it with others unashamedly? Do we hesitate? Why?
I am not perfect in these moments of life either. However, this season is a wake-up call for the church, the children of God! Are you willing to put your life against the hard scriptures in the Word of God and judge yourself? I encourage you to read Revelations 2 and 3 in which Jesus is speaking to the 7 churches, really all of us. How do you fair?
Here on earth is the time to repent and receiving healing and strength to run the race set before us. We are not to judge others but we can look inward and allow the Lord to convict you here while you have the opportunity to be forgiven.
When our life comes to an end, a ‘period’ will end our story here on earth. There will be no corrections or modifications to the history of our lives. It is the finality of our earthly story. The things we were forgiven of will appear as blank whitewashed pages because of the blood of Jesus. The things that we refuse to confront in our lives and make right will be the hard print on the pages that we will stand before the King and give account. Of course, all the good and all the times of obedience to the Lord will be there as well. Rewards and judgments will be delivered. Don’t let pride or self-righteousness keep you from humbling yourself now before your King and Savior to receive grace and mercy, forgiveness and healing, love, and strength to walk your days out on this earth as a mighty victorious child and warrior of the Living King.
