My prayer is that you grab hold of this and begin to apply it. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a personal revelation on this today. It is powerful!
Gad gave us a few amazing gifts after Jesus’ resurrection was complete, Jesus having sat down at the right hand of God. First, God gave us the Holy Spirit, the same spirit that raised Jesus’ body from the dead. The one who was with Jesus during his ministry as a man on the earth. Holy Spirit is our gift, our comforter, teacher, and so much more. Secondly, God gave us the Word of God. It is our contract, if you will from the Lord, containing our benefits, promises, and direction manual here on the earth until we are with him in heaven. The Word of God is full of instructions, guidance, warnings, and promises. Truly, everything we need is within its pages. It is alive!
Today, I want to focus on the promises of God. We read all the promises of God are yes and amen in Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
A promise is a declaration assuring that one will or will not do something; a vow. Implying a future event or guarantees a vow to come. It gives hope. Good promises satisfy the soul, they are words to look forward to and even better when you are holding the fruit of them in your possession.
One of the promises we read in Isaiah 5:11 is that the words of God that go out from Him never return to him void. His Word is always accomplished. God is perfect! He does not make mistakes. So what do we do with this when our prayers or petitions are not answered? Some of us have waited for years and years to see some of these promises come to pass. Some of us have not seen them happen at all. We have even watched loved ones go on to be with the Lord before seeing the promise. Many times we begin to blame God, doubt Him and wonder if the Word of God is true. Coldness grips the hearts of many and unfortunately many drift away from God.
Since God is perfect and gave us all we need, with whom does the responsibility fall? It takes courage to realize the answer is within ourselves. What are we not understanding? What truth have we not seen yet? I understand this is hard to hear or think about, but it is true. God gave us the earth. He gave us the keys to the kingdom of heaven for what we bind on earth is bound in heaven and what we loose on earth is loosed in heaven. The key when you look closely at this scripture and many others is us. God is telling us to do the speaking in the verse above. The action is placed on us.
God’s instructions to us are to speak to our mountain or troubles, tell it what to do, believe, and it will be ours. Read Mark 11: 23-24. You see, Jesus didn’t just provide forgiveness of sin, he restored our authority so we would have dominion over the earth.
When you can embrace your responsibility as a believer and begin to line up your actions with God’s instructions things will begin to change. You will look at the promises of God in a new light, you will know and understand every one of them is intended for you! You will start talking to your circumstances with authority and life will get exciting. Your life will never be the same.
The promises of God are ALL good! They are ALL yours! Luke 1: 37 declares not one promise of God is empty of power for nothing is impossible with God! Yes, read that again! Nothing is impossible with God!
We all have situations we in the natural cannot see a solution to. We strive to try in our power to fix things, but most often the day comes when we give up! We let go of our hope. Once hope is lost, defeat settles in. We learn to live in that place as defeated individuals. However, this is not who you are as a child of God. You have a guarantee from the Lord!
So what promises are you needing to see bear fruit in your life?
Family
Relationships
Healing
Joy
Peace
Sound mind
Fill in the blank with your current needs, _____________.
The good news is the Word of God is filled with promises for you! Promises to give you a victorious life in and through Jesus!
In the next blog, I want to explore this topic more and focus on a section of scripture found in 2 Peter. Meanwhile, look within and ask Holy Spirit to show you if you have given up too soon, or not understood the scriptures correctly. The Lord has personally corrected my position many times through the years. I am always so glad when he does!
