I love those moments when scriptures from the Lord become alive especially when you have read them more than once in a lifetime. This has happened recently with the promises of God. Yes, we all know about the promises of God, but do we truly believe and live them out. This study will be broken down into several parts. I encourage you to take time to ask the Lord about the verses and catch what He has given us.
Look at what 2 Corinthians 1:20 tells us.
For all of God’s promises find their yes of fulfillment in him. And as his yes and our Amen ascend to God, we bring him glory.
Do you realize God can not say no to any of his promises? Read the verse again. If we believe God, then we must believe what he said, all of his promises are yes. Many believe he can change his mind because he is God, but the truth is he can not change the word of God. Psalms 138:2 states, For You(God) have magnified Your word above all Your name.
This means that God has placed his own word above his name, therefore, he will do what he has spoken. God will not change his word to make room for him to do something different. This is the true sovereignty of God. We need to learn to trust what he says as well as do exactly what he has spoken.
As God says Yes, we have a part to play as well. We must get in agreement with God’s promises and say aloud, Amen! Remember, this is a relationship, not a religion. We partner with the Lord by agreeing with his promises. This is how we take them and apply them to our lives.
I want to move on to 2 Peter 1: 3-4.
Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing him who has called us by name and invited us to come to him through a glorious manifestation of his goodness. As a result of this, he has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world. (2 Peter 1: 3-4 TPT)
These two verses are packed with amazing truths. Did you catch that as a child of God, you have ALL you need? God placed everything you would need to thrive inside of you the moment you accepted His Lordship. Think about the word, lavished. One definition of lavished is marked by excess abundance. For EVERYTHING you need has been profusely bestowed in you because you called on Jesus. It paints such a beautiful picture. Take some time to think about what God is telling you.
Next, you have been given priceless treasures, the treasure of his magnificent promises. Luke 1:37 tells us, not one promise from God is empty of power, for nothing is impossible with God.
2 Peter continues, “so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the divine nature.”
Remember who you are, you are a child of God! You belong to His family. You are not a slave nor a servant, you are His son or daughter! God’s plan has always been for his children to thrive, succeed, and have dominion over the earth. God wants to do life with you. Yes, right beside you! He gave us His only Son who paid a price for freedom not one of us could ever pay to be in right standing with God. It is a free gift for those who believe!
The moment you made Jesus your Lord you were made a new creation. The old guy was defeated and God supernaturally gave you EVERYTHING you needed to succeed in life and godliness. Unfortunately, this truth has not been taught well. We have spent a lifetime listening to the world, the enemy’s lies, religion’s excuses of why prayers don’t get answered. Many believe they are not able to understand the Word of God on their own. The list of excuses is endless. However, the truth is from the moment you received Jesus, you were equipped!
There is so much here we can look at, so until next time take some time to examine these scriptures. Ask the Lord questions, Holy Spirit is your best teacher! Think about what your life would look like if you believed these words to be true.
The Lord is looking for those who will trust him and take Him at His Word. Will you?
This statement; “….change His mind because He is God, but TRUTH is…” is so piercing my heart as I un-learn childhood religious rules! Thank you Kim for always sharing your insight and love of Jesus! Xoxo
It is so exciting to find God’s truth!
