I returned a few weeks ago from Washington State having traveled with a dear friend to see her brother. The trip was so timely. I love how we can trust God in everything even to the point of waiting on God’s perfect peace to see a brother in poor health.
This world is so big yet so small at the same time. I am always amazed. The Lord is always placing people in your path to encourage, be kind, help, have a conversation, or minister the healing power of God both emotionally and physically.
This trip would be no different. It began with a text, “Want to go to Washington next week?” My dear friend had peace and it was time to visit her brother. Within three days, we were both on planes headed West. God provided us a place to lay our head. What a treat! We were able to stay in a garage apartment that had housed ministers, pregnant mothers, and others the Lord had sent to our host. Being 87, she had years of experience blessing others in her home. We were able to share our stories with her each night. She was praying for us during the day. It brought her joy to hear them each evening. How it brought us joy to know she was praying for our days as well.
On our first day on the ground, my friend was able to spend quite a bit of time with her brother and help him get several things in order, talk to the doctor, and love on her brother. She also was able to connect with a young girl who had reached out to help her brother when he needed someone to help him.
We had dinner with this sweet girl on Monday evening. Her significant other came along, these girls were so sweet and kind. It was a pleasure to meet them and say thank you for their kindness. Upon seeing them, my heart was captivated. The compassion of the Lord was present and I knew the Lord would use this night.
As we sat down, this young woman who had been at the right place, at the right time to help another began to pour out her struggles from the past few weeks. She had been in such a dark tormented place. She shared with us how she had attempted to take her life within this time. I instantly knew God had freedom for her, so I sat and listened. I was listening for the Holy Spirit to reveal the moments where her healing would come. He did! Then, I waited for the door, the place in the conversation where I knew it was time to present the love of God and the healing that awaited her.
We had the restaurant to ourselves. It was beautiful. We watched the Lord through our conversation captivate both their hearts. God had their attention. When it came time for prayer, I assured her I would never push. If she wanted healing and freedom from the torment, I would be happy to lead her there. She accepted letting God do what His Word said and delivered healing to her. It was so beautiful. She was amazed at how light she felt and all she could see was white as we prayed. All the heaviness left her.
My friend and I pointed out the timing. Her desire to come to Washington at the beginning of 2020. Her hesitation until five days prior when the Lord put an urgency to come upon her.
God knows the beginning from the end. He is looking for His children to show His love, His kindness, His grace, His mercy, and His forgiveness to the world around us. People are hurting. Religion has crushed so many people. Physical abuse has left people not knowing who to trust. Hurts, wounds, pain envelops lives all around us, even our own. The power to be entirely healed and set free is real. It exists. It is powerful. It is Jesus. It is easy to receive. It is just as easy as salvation, yes, it only takes moments for God to change everything.
I share this because you are called by God. He has equipped you with the Holy Spirit, your teacher, and friend, to help you learn and accomplish anything God asks of you.
Ask the Lord to help you see the people around you. Ask Him to help you see people the way he, Jesus, sees people. You will begin to see how much God is at work all around you. Just waiting for you to join Him as He weaves the most impressive tapestry you have ever seen! I am so glad I was willing to shift my schedule and join my dear friend so she could love on her brother.
It was a week filled with the goodness of God! He did so much for each of us and others. It is a week like so many others I will cherish. God is always moving in and around us. Oh, how fun it is to join him in reaching those around us. Only the Lord can weaver our lives together locally and across this world to create such amazing tapestries!
