There is so much to be thankful for in our lives. No matter how hard a life, season, or a day maybe there is something to find gratitude in. It is a choice. A choice to look for something good!
Life will most certainly swing hard in hopes to knock you down, get you off track, or take you out if possible. We must remember we have one who is not fond of us. Our enemy constantly is looking for ways to target our lives or the weak areas in our lives.
How do we overcome such moments or seasons?
The Lord has given us so many answers in the Bible. Finding them is truly finding treasure!
We live in a society where most of what the world gives us in the news, music, and so on is negative. I personally have a hard time watching the news for very long. I can take only so much of it before I feel the heaviness and depression of the world bear down. The world wants us to fear everything, paralyzing us, desiring us to respond in the way they desire.
My God has a different plan! His plan for me watches over me, protects me, provides for me, heals me, loves me. His love for me is extravagant! In this plan, God wants us to focus on what is good. Look here in Philippians 4 from The Passions Translation.
“Be cheerful with a joyous celebration in every season of life. Let joy overflow, for you are united with the Anointed One! Let gentleness be seen in every relationship, for our Lord is ever near….
So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.”
The promise from God is that when we keep our eyes on the right stuff His peace will be with us in ALL things. Think about that!
Life might throw us some lemons, but when we choose to keep our eyes on what is good and godly, we can walk out our day to day lives in peace. That means No fear, No doubt, No worry, No anxiety, we are confident that God will see us through!
Those lemons will become lemonade! They will become beautiful stories of God’s faithfulness!
I want to continue collecting stories of God’s greatness in my life! Stories of his love! Tangible miracles to share with those around me! Stories that captivate those around me drawing others to God!
Thanksgiving morning, I awoke and spent the first 40 minutes of my day with the Lord. I thanked him for all that is good in our lives. I praised Him and expressed my gratitude to him for things from my family, to friends, where we live, and so much more. I was focused on all the goodness in our lives. I also invited the Lord to be present in my day. In times past, cooking all day can be taxing, I did not want our day to look like that so I asked him for divine intervention! I wanted a peaceful prep time and all to go well as we enjoyed a family day together. God delivered! The day went great and those of us who were cooking didn’t even feel exhausted after a day spent in the kitchen. Thank you, Lord!
My best and most productive days are the days I start off with the Lord focusing on his goodness and love! God longs for us to invite him to every aspect of our lives! Try it! I would love to hear your stories of God’s faithfulness!
