As I pondered the many facets of starting a blog, I had to think of a name, of coarse. As I looked back over the years of being there for so many people, I saw a pattern. So many people stuck in places of hopelessness, downcast seasons, caught in the places where ill-spoken words have been spoken over them just to mention a few. People of all ages not seeing any potential in themselves. Hope is lost for a better tomorrow and the question of why they are here remains. This brought me to the word, POTENTIAL. UnEARTHING came from the desire to see these buried gifts, talents, and hope emerge from deep within one’s being. And so it became unEarthing Potential.
The conversations I have with many people I meet, quickly if not immediately gravitate toward the negatives or bad situations in their lives. It could be their health, relationship troubles, financial woes, even a combination of it all. Negativity comes so easily to most people, people embrace the little gray rain clouds of life. As I listen, my optimism focuses on finding the glimmer of hope in one’s situation. Then I wait for a place in our conversation to share that glimmer of hope or encouragement, and light a spark of hope. The joy comes when a small smile appears, no matter how small. For in that moment, the weight of the world doesn’t seem quite so heavy.

So, unEarthing Potential will be a place of encouragement to those seeking or searching for hope. I believe each and every person on this planet has potential to change the world around them. It is often buried deep within but it is there, just waiting to be unearthed. If I can help just one person find the treasure within them, then it is worth my time. The world needs the gifts and talents stored inside each one of us.
